5 Facts about Today’s Skin Pigmentation Trend


Skin pigmentation is a condition which gives your skin colour. These days, skin pigmentation trend has become more varied.

So, what are the five (5) facts about today’s skin pigmentation trend?
1.Most women’s skin tends to have a lighter colour than their male counterparts, due to the fact that females need more calcium during pregnancy and lactation. Their bodies absorb more calcium.
2.As you reach the age of thirty (30) and above, the melanin production starts decreasing up to twenty percent (20%) before it finally stops.
3.Albinism is a skin pigmentation disorder caused by genetic mutations. An albino (they have the palest, fairest skin) can live normally, although they tend to be more sensitive to sunlight and prone to having skin cancer and/or eye damage.
4.Vitiligo is another skin pigmentation disorder that only shows up in certain sections of skin. It is suspected that autoimmune might be one of the causes, although it has not been sicentifically confirmed yet.
5.Melasma is another condition where the skin gets darker. It is related to pregnancy (either before, during, or after) and can be treated with topical application.

There are still other skin pigmentation issues. Each disorder requires a different approach and treatment.
